Silver linings.

There are silver linings in every cloud.

We just need to be able to spot them to weather any storm.

The optimistic metaphor leads me through some 'down' times.

And, I tried to paint a grey sky

with elements of hope looking out.

"Was I deceiv'd, or did a sable cloud

Turn forth her silver lining on the night?"

says Milton in Comus.

Just look for it.

  7. Painting gray skies is tough...they're often so flat looking - you've made an excellent effort and I like the way you tied it in with your sentiment. Great painting.
