Numen - Great White Lion.

Numen, as I see it, is the energy or Shakti
 that shows itself
in the colors, the lines, the textures, the words,
and all other elements of my imagination –
in what I write and
 in what I paint.

Some time back, at a time when my days were rather stressful,
I had a dream, a very unusual dream
of a huge white Lion.

It had a white mane,
and it was gazing at me
in a very protecting and serene way.

I could not forget this dream and
often invoke the presence of this great spirit
 whenever I feel low.

I would like to believe it is my numen.

  2. Love your lion. I was trying to decide what made it look almost human. Decided it was the eyes. There is a smile in those eyes.

  3. your painting is magnificent-that lion-wow! I am a firm believer in an animals presence through out our lives. In "Animal Speak" the meaning of the lion is "Intuition is working; success in group situations." Happy PPF!

  6. oh so very wonderful!!!!!!!! lovely!! Powerful lion protecting a wonderful and special woman. Truly fantastic! I never thought of an Animal protecting me. If i were to think or feel about what animal it would be...it would have to be a big brown grizzly bear.

  11. This lion reminds me of the tarot card STRENGTH (sometimes card 8 and sometimes card 11, depending) and that it is white is completely astonishing and amazing to me. How lucky you are to receive this image that you have always. I think the white lion represents strength in your, or of your, spirit. Awesome art and an awesome art-idea and how completely perfect for this theme of numen. Hugs, Norma, xo

  16. I'd never heard of a numen before but I've been doing my 2nd degree reiki recently and focusing a lot on angel and reiki guides so I do like this idea very much and I love that yours is a gorgeous white lion. Beautiful depiction of him watching over you.

    1. Hi Nic,
I'm glad you liked my Numen and I'm learning more about spirit guides through this experience. I know Reiki is about chaneling energy - have you felt any special guiding force?

  17. Hello, nice to meet you.. I'm sure that the white lion is your Numen or what is called your inner leader or spirit. I really like your stroy about it and the expression of the faces, the lion and the women with this muted color tones.
