I got a chance to visit a folklore museum,
a private museum born out of one individuals love for antiques
and the desire to let others share
the beauty and elegance of these amazing artefacts.
You are invited to get a cuppa and have a look too,
a traditional oil lamp used for aarti |
edakka, udukku etc are percussion musical instruments used in temples |
an ancient burial urn |
veena |
nandi, the bull |
an elephant toy |
another toy |
nagaraj, the serpent god. |
a detail from the painting on one of the musical instruments |
the intricately carved window |
garuda, the mythical bird |
an ancient grinding stone... yes women used it!! |
door with special locks |
There are more amazing objects from the museum.
I will keep it for another post.
I have been trying to paint, but this week
progress eludes me, I feel.
Inspiration, I have to seek within myself
and, smile on, like these pretty flowers
found unexpectedly sometime back
in a place full of trucks and grease!
Thanks for the tour! And beautiful flowers!
