Folklore Museum.

I got a chance to visit a folklore museum,

a private museum born out of  one individuals love for antiques
and the desire to let others share
the beauty and elegance of these amazing artefacts.

You are invited to get a cuppa and have a look too,

a traditional oil lamp used for aarti

edakka, udukku etc are percussion musical instruments used in temples

an ancient burial urn

veena

nandi, the bull

an elephant toy

another toy

nagaraj, the serpent god.

a detail from the painting on one of the musical instruments

the intricately carved window

garuda, the mythical bird

an ancient grinding stone... yes women used it!!

door with special locks
There are more amazing objects from the museum.
I will keep it for another post.

I have been  trying to paint, but this week
progress eludes me, I feel.

Inspiration, I have to seek within myself
and,  smile on, like these pretty flowers
found unexpectedly sometime back
in a place full of trucks and grease!
