Fall fearless -Leap of Faith.
Headline Prompt: Taking a Chance: When did you take a chance or a leap of faith? How did it turn out? What did you learn?
Color Prompt: What color do you like least? Use it!
Color Prompt: What color do you like least? Use it!
When I read the headline prompt for the second challenge
on Artists in Blogland, the first thought that came to me
was,
Leap of faith? Me? No way!
Somehow, ‘leap of faith’ made me picture
people taking blind
jumps into the unknown.
Then I did a slow take on it and realized,
it need not be a
blind jump into a muddle
(though, I have done enough of those too!) :-)
My desktop has the lines,
“Never be afraid to fall apart because
it is the opportunity to rebuild yourself
the way you wish you had been”
No matter what happens, life goes on.
The leap of faith for me has been belief in myself.
When worlds crashed round me,
people I had considered friends deserted me,
I managed to cling on to my faith,
or ‘vishwas’ as it is said in Hindi.
When life seemed difficult or lonely,
I was determined to fight
back.
The intensity of having faith is what I have tried to show on my page.
The colors are bright and inspired by
the 17th
century dance form of Kathakali
where the dancers apply intricate make-up on
their faces
to depict characters that are noble or vile.
Green symbolizes the divine, heroic and is spiritual.
The
eyes of Kathakali performers look red
by using an herb. It added to
the atmosphere
of supernaturalism of this dance,
which was traditionally performed in the
temples
at night in the glow of flickering oil lamps.
Quintessentially, having Faith is a
discovery of spirituality
somewhere deep within..
I have used ink, (my current favorite mediumJ) oil
pastels, acrylics.
The colors are not my instinctive choices, since I tend to
go for blue usually.
