I never thanked you - Poem for The Mag -153
It was the picture that I noticed
As things from the cupboard tumbled out.
When did she get this snap taken?
Was it the day
All of us went away?
She did need to chill then.
It brought a smile
Now that the storms had blown away.
Now that music flowed again
In soft notes, like spring flowers.
Yet, I wondered,
Did you stay back?
Did the two of you
Listen to music and talk?
Did she cry much?
And, you sat by her
Watching protectively
Until those limbs
Unlocked in sleep?
Was it me she called
In her sleep?
I am sorry
I never thanked you!

Thank you for this...it's a very tender piece.
