Memories of rain.

Few days back it rained so heavily that all the roads were flooded, which is so usual in our overcrowded, badly planned Indian cities. It causes many inconveniences to the people, but no authority has ever done anything about it.

Yet, after days of scorching sun, this brief period of rain had a beauty of its own.

Have you noticed how the clouds gather, low, and grey - making you feel you are standing beneath one huge umbrella?

I felt it was like an angel floating by on a round, rain-heavy cloud.

It sure made the local frogs vociferous and I was amazed at how much it can change the world around us in just a few minutes!

And, I must add, just as refreshing as the sound of raindrops falling, were the sounds after the rain, when all the tiny insects and water creatures just seemed to burst into a new life.

To us, people who live here, with years of rain memories, rain sounds are like diving once more into an old photo album. The heart renews its memories and associations with moments and people long gone or distant from our lives, the sound of mother’s voice, the care of father, the simple easy days with brother in our house…

Memories that came flooding back like the rain in an overcrowded city.

So here is my journal page dedicated to rain in the city.

What rain memories do you have? Hot cups of tea? Warm rooms and lots of books to read? Would love to hear from you.

  7. Lovely page! Here in Louisiana, the tree frogs sing a loud chorus after the rain. It tends to flood here so there is always some trepidation that comes with a lot of rain but I do enjoy the frogs. http://www.toadinaboat.com/
